Customized Glazing
In our energy conscious era, glass production has undergone major improvements in quality and purity, as well as dramatically improving thermal performance. The insulating glass unit (IGU) combined with the thermal break construction of the frame, control the overall energy efficiency of a window. Our IGU’s utilize a range of glass types to control thermal transfer, UV blocking, Solar transmission and Sound inhibition based on the needs of each client. EuroSteel continues to invest in the very latest developments in glass technologies to provide optimal thermal performance in our windows and glass panels.
EuroSteel windows are an excellent investment in terms of energy savings, lifetime durability and low maintenance. All glass is installed in factory to prevent potential damage on-site and to deliver consistent quality. Your project manager will help determine the best glazing choices to suit your climate zone, window orientation and design aesthetics. Choosing EuroSteel framed windows is one of the most impactful design decisions you will make for your home or business. With less frame and more glass, you’ll enjoy the benefits of natural light and expansive views. See more about EuroSteel glazing.
Insulation Factors
Our IGU’s are composed of two or three panes of glass separated by Swiss designed “Warm-edge” spacers, sealed together at the edges. The space between the panes is filled with either air, argon or krypton gas, depending on your insulation requirement. Argon and Krypton are both denser than air and therefore improve the insulating capacity of the IGU. When Argon gas fill is used in a low-e IGU, the window’s U-value is improved by approximately 16%. Krypton gas is more dense, more expensive and more difficult to fill than argon, but it improves the U-value in a low-e IGU by up to 27%. Using krypton gas, our triple pane IGU’s can be thinner than most dual pane windows and achieve significantly higher insulation ratings.
The glass panes that make up the IGU are also designed to control energy transfer. Low E glass (short for Low Emissivity) greatly improves the insulation value of the window – known as U Value. The lower the U Value, the better the insulation. EuroSteel windows can have a U Value as low as 0.18 – the best in the industry. Solar Control glass determines the amount of the sun’s energy that is allowed to pass into a building. This factor is known as the Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC for short). Depending on the local climate, the SHGC can be used to lower heating costs or reduce the need for air conditioning. Your EuroSteel project manager will help you choose the best SHGC for the needs of your project.
Window Profiles
Ext-Thermal – EuroSteel’s primary profile which is suitable for all sizes of exterior windows. All our exterior IGU’s are thermally broken and have a sightline height of 1.5 inches. Muntins or FDL’s may be added.
Interior – This profile is used for all interior partitions. It has no thermal break and a sightline height of 1.5 inches. Sound reduction features and muntins may be added.
