Awning & Hopper Windows

Light & Ventilation

Awning and Hopper windows are ideal for increasing light and ventilation in rooms where it is preferable not to have larger opening windows. Both types are often placed higher up in bathrooms where light and ventilation is needed, but visibility is not desired. They are also used in combination with fixed windows or mounted above doorways. These windows can provide extra security by being too small and too high to allow ingress.

Awning Windows

hinge at the top and open outwards from the bottom. You control the degree of the opening with a hand operated crank. When the window is open, the glass pane forms a little ‘awning’ over the opening, helping to prevent rain or falling leaves from entering the room.

Hopper Windows

hinge at the bottom and open inward from the top of the window approximately 20º. Hopper windows are manually operated and usually have only two positions, open or closed. When open they restrict rain or leaves from entering the room.

Energy Efficiency
